FBi'S BEFORECAST - EPISODE 18
This month, all artists have dropped in demos at FBiâs open day. You can too, more info at fbiradio.com.

MERI G â Sex Song
Sydney based 16 year old, self-proclaimed maths nerd currently in year 11. Sheâs come first place in music & extension music at school 3 yrs in a row and done everything from fronting rock bands, being in orchestras (playing flute or triangle), in choirs, touring rural Australia and orchestrating for a theatre play. But if her music career falls through her possible plan b is owning a theme park, philosopher and being a food critic (for the free food). This song is from her debut demo recording. Made while she was on work experience in Year 10.

PAPA VS PRETTY â Citz #1
Sydney based band that is the brainchild of main songwriter Tom Rawles who wrote and recorded everything on this release. They play live as a 4 piece and with an average age of 17 years old theyâve already impressed enough to play with Malcolm Middleton, 78 Saab and more. This song is off their debut release.

AND THEN TO BED - Harriet Houdini
Sydney solo artist Phoebe Conti spent her high school years in numerous bands and attending all-ages DIY shows. She also records in a very DIY way using a singstar microphone through her computer. Inspired by Kimya Dawson from NYC, she started writing her own songs about heartbreak and misery, although sheâs got a pretty cheery delivery. To highlight how quickly her career is coming together sheâs already supported Kimya Dawson on her recent show in Sydney as well as supporting Holly Throsby.

SEEKAE - At The Risk of Succeeding
Formerly known as Commander Keen, this Sydney trio use synthesizers, drum machines, glockenspiels, guitars, software, melodicas and spoons to create lush soundscapes and electronic pop songs. They are currently recording an album named DAN DAN DAN, which will be released later in 2008. This track is from a demo dropped in during an FBi open Day.

WESTERNSYNTHETICS feat MC WERD2JAH - Electronic Cosmetics
WESTERNSYNTHETICS is solo artist Rhyece OâNeill who blends Dub, Techno, & Phsychedelic sounds. He has supported Dubstep heavyweights DJ Distance, Scuba & Caspa. This is off his debut release, Engine No 999, 12â and features Miami MC WERD2JAH. Out August 08 on Sub Continental Dub records, one of Australias first dubstep labels to release Australian artists.

FBi'S BEFORECAST - EPISODE 17

THE AVIATORS â Your Blues
Four piece from Darwin who got together mid 2007 after originally meeting at school. With an average age of 16-17 years, theyâve already released and sold out their self-titled album locally in February 2008. They are currently working on their second album, but we thought weâd bring you something from their debut album.

CANYONS â More Champagne
Sydney based producer/DJ duo who combine live instruments and vocals with drum machines, samples and analogue effects. The pair are currently working on their debut album and this number is from their 12â, The Lovemore EP.

TRAPS â Driver
Getting a fair amount of airplay on FBi is this track from Sydney four-piece, Traps. They meet by chance one day when they all washed up at the same place of employment and somewhere along the line the band was formed. Their first single is set for release August 2008, but weâve got an early taste for you with this demo, Driver.

THE CRYSTAL SUN - Not All Those That Wander Are Lost (DSICO remix)
The Crystal Sun are a mysterious bunch. Little is known about them other than the fact that they are based in London and were discovered by their record label 12 Apostles back in 2005. Approached to release their record, when the label hadnât heard from the band they though they had disappeared or broken up. Cut to early this year when the master for their debut album, Landscapes arrives in the post along with a brief note. The album is out now and this ditty is remixed by Sydney born, now London based producer DSICO.

URTHBOY - Come Around (Lovestoned Remix) // FBI EXCLUSIVE
An FBi exclusive from Sydney Hip Hop artist, Urthboy. The original song is from Urthboy's 2004 debut album Distant Sense of Random Menace. This remix, created by Urthboy and fellow Sydney producer Elgusto (from Hermitude), features guest vocals from Jane Tyrrell (from Urthboyâs band mate from The Herd). This remix has the Lovestoned tag as it borrows a riff from the song of the same name by Justin Timberlake.

A special gathering of like-minded musicians dreamed up by Dave Rennick (Dappled Cities) and also featuring Sarah Kelly (Redsun Band), Danny Heifetz (Mr Bungle), Burke Reid (Gerling) and Tim Rogers (better known as solo artist Jack Ladder). This track is off their debut EP, recorded with Peter Mayes from PNAU and John Hardy.

DEEP SEA ARCADE â crouch end
The two Nickâs in the band met in Primary school over a game of handball. They started to make music in high school and eventually banded together with drummer and two guitarists. After building up home made recordings for the last five years. This is their first recorded outing as a band and they are currently working on their debut album in Sydney.

ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI â beef in a box
The Six-piece outfit originally from Melbourne have recently undergone a few changes. Most notably was the relocation of songwriter/vocalist Cameron Bird to Brooklyn, New York. The largely Puerto Rican neighborhood had an impact on their third album, âPlaces Like Thisâ?, channeling calypso rhythms, tropical flavours and upping the percussion quota. Their current tour only release is the âLike it or Notâ? EP featuring a remix by Spanish artist El Guincho and this cover of Beef in a Box by 80âs prog rock outfit I.Q.

FBI'S BEFORECAST - EPISODE 12

BRIDGEMARY KISS - She's Come on Top
This demo coems from a five piece from Sydneyâs Northern Beaches who are all just 17 years old. Vocalist/guitarist, Brett is originally from Brighton in south of England - hence the name which comes from a working class school near Portsmouth in England. A Bridgemary Kiss is a headbutt, like the Liverpool kiss. They are about to play the final of the Hopetoun Hotel Incentive final which could see them open Homebake this year.

DEATH SET - Distressed (BONDE DO ROLE remix)
From the Gold Coast they moved to Sydney to Brooklyn and now this duo are now based in Baltimore. Theyâve played with Spankrock, Suicide, Bonde Do Role, Wolfmother, Matt and Kim and Japanther just to name a few. Their debut album is set for release early 2008 but this is a little teaser. From their EP Rad Warehouses Bad Neighborhoods, which contains preview tracks, remixed and unreleased tracks and this remix from Brazilian three-piece Bonde Do Role.

FLYING FOXES - Lost in Low Cloud
This unsigned Sydney quartet is fairly new to the Sydney scene. Featuring members from the now defunct The Glass Age, this change in sound has seen them play with fellow local kids Ghosts of Television, Straight Arrows and The Mares. This is the first youâll hear of them â a demo that was recorded in their bedroom by the band and Ned from Dappled Cities.

MONK FLY - The Coming Summer
Sydney DJ, Producer, Musician and founder of The Frequency Lab AKA Christopher Hancock. This track is from MONK FLY's new instrumental EP, Downtempo Smokers. Available on 12 inch vinyl and download from thefrequencylab.com

THE PAPER SCISSORS - We Don't Walk (HEY NOW Remix)
The original version of this single by Sydney four piece, THE PAPER SCISSORS gets the remix treatment by Sydney DJ/Producers HEY NOW. The orignal is off their debut album, Less Talk, More Paper Scissors. And for now this is the only place you can find this track.
